Finding a boat

Browse your club's fleet and understand each boat's specs, crew needs, and status.

The Fleet page lists every boat your club has on Zeil. Use it to get to know the boats before you book one.

What each boat shows

  • Name and class. Boats are grouped into classes (for example, a particular make and model). The class defines the shared specs; an individual boat can add its own notes.
  • Size and specs. Hull length, sail area, displacement, and any notes the club has added.
  • Crew requirements. A minimum and maximum crew size, and how many qualified skippers the boat needs aboard.
  • Skipper requirement. Whether the boat needs a skipper endorsement and a minimum certification level to take out. See Certifications & skipper status.
  • Status. Whether the boat is available, under maintenance, or retired.

Boat status

StatusCan you book it?
ActiveYes — it shows in the calendar and can be reserved.
MaintenanceNo — temporarily out of service. It won't appear as bookable.
RetiredNo — no longer in the fleet.

Only active boats appear when you go to book a sail.

From browsing to booking

Found a boat you'd like to take out? Head to Book a sail to reserve it for a time window. If the boat requires a skipper certification you don't have yet, you can still join as crew, or ask your club admin about earning the endorsement.
