Club settings

Your club's settings shape how times, weather, and the Sail Brief work for everyone. Find them under Admin → Settings.

Club location

Search for your club's home — a harbor, marina, or address — and Zeil finds it on OpenStreetMap, drops a map pin to confirm the spot, and pulls a live forecast right there. That live weather doubles as proof the forecast resolves for your location before you save. This is the point Zeil uses to fetch the weather for every sail and to feed the Sail Brief — without a location, forecasts and briefs can't be generated.

Prefer exact coordinates? Open Enter coordinates manually to type latitude and longitude directly.

When you pick a place from the search, its address is saved with your home location and shown to invited guests on their sail page, so they know where to meet. It also becomes the location on members' Add to calendar events. Coordinates you type in manually don't carry an address — calendar events then use the coordinates themselves, which calendar apps can still map.

Timezone

Your timezone is filled in automatically from the location you pick — you can still override it. Zeil stores all times in UTC behind the scenes but shows them to members in your club's timezone, so reservations, calendars, and briefs all read correctly for where you sail. Getting this right is what makes "10:00" mean 10:00 at your dock.

Wind unit

Choose how wind is displayed across the club — knots, m/s, or mph. This applies to every member's forecast view.

Branding

Give the app your club's look:

• Club logo URL — paste a link to a hosted image (https) and your logo appears next to the club name.
• Accent color — pick a color with the swatch or type a hex value like #2E6F9E. It tints buttons, links, and highlights across your club's app for every member.

Both are optional — leave them empty to keep Zeil's default look, or clear a field and save to remove it.

Local-knowledge notes

These free-text notes capture what's special about sailing your waters — hazards, tides, no-go zones, channel quirks, seasonal considerations. Zeil feeds them into the Sail Brief so the AI advisory reflects local reality, not just a generic forecast. See Tuning the Sail Brief for how to write notes that pay off.

Skipper grace window

When a sail loses its skipper, Zeil holds the reservation open while a replacement is found — but not forever. The skipper grace window sets the deadline: if no eligible replacement has stepped in by this many hours before the sail starts, the reservation is cancelled automatically and the crew is notified.

• The default is 48 hours. You can set anything from 0 to 336 hours (14 days).
• 0 means the sail is only cancelled once its start time arrives.

Crew and admins are alerted when the skipper drops out (the message names the concrete deadline in your club's timezone), get a last-call warning as the deadline approaches, and everyone aboard — including guests — is emailed if the sail is auto-cancelled. A replacement doesn't have to come from you: while the window runs, any member cleared for that boat can take the helm themselves from the sail or the club calendar. Sailing school

Turn on Sailing school to unlock courses for your club. When it's on, admins can build and run courses under Admin → School, the Courses card appears on your dashboard, and your public course schedule (/courses) goes live so anyone can browse and register — non-members who sign up join as students (existing members and admins keep their role). It's off by default — flip the switch and save to open the feature; switching it off also hides the public schedule and My courses. Course embed allowlist

Your public course schedule can be shown inside your club's own website with an iframe — but browsers block that by default. The course embed allowlist (shown while Sailing school is on) lists the websites allowed to embed your public course pages; everything not on the list stays blocked.

• Enter one domain per line, as a bare domain like truenorthsail.com — pasting a full URL is fine, Zeil trims it down to the domain when you save.
• A domain only matches itself: if your website also answers at www., list www.truenorthsail.com too — or cover every subdomain at once with *.truenorthsail.com. (A :port suffix and localhost are accepted for testing an embed before it goes live.)
• Leave the list empty (the default) to keep embedding blocked.

The allowlist only opens up the public course pages (/courses) — the rest of your club's app can never be embedded. Turning Sailing school off blocks embedding again, whatever the list says. Changes take effect within a minute.
