Getting started

Your profile

Set up your name, contact details, emergency contact, and sailing bio.

Your profile is how the rest of your club knows you — skippers picking crew, administrators reaching out, and crewmates coordinating a sail all rely on it. Take a minute to fill it in.

Account vs. club profile

Zeil keeps two layers of profile information:

  • Your account is global. Your name, phone number, emergency contact, and sailing bio travel with you across every club you belong to.
  • Per-club details let a club show you under a specific display name if you go by something different there.

Edit your profile from the Profile area, then Edit profile.

What to fill in

Display name

The name shown to other members on crew lists and the member directory.

Phone number

So a skipper or admin can reach you about a sail — especially useful on the day.

Emergency contact

A name and number for who to call if something happens on the water. This is one of the most important fields to keep current.

Sailing bio

A short note on your experience — boats you've sailed, roles you enjoy, anything that helps a skipper crew up confidently.

Keep your emergency contact current

Sailing carries real risk. An up-to-date emergency contact is the single most useful thing in your profile if a sail goes wrong.

Your credentials

Your profile also shows the certifications and skipper endorsements your club has granted you, and which boats you're cleared to skipper. You don't edit these yourself — administrators grant them. See Certifications & skipper status to understand what they mean.

Notification preferences

Choose which emails you want to receive — for example, the weekly announcement digest — under Profile → Preferences. See Notifications.

Managing or closing your account

You can export your personal data or request account deletion from your profile. See Your account & data.
